What is a Luckpusher?

The dictionary definition of the idiom, “push your luck” is: to take a risk on the assumption that one will continue to be successful.  Therefore a luckpusher is a person who lives by this idea.  By that measure, wouldn’t we all aspire to be luckpushers?

I’m a luckpusher.

I am an educator, motivational speaker, writer, fundraiser, extreme athlete, and world explorer.   I have always been on a quest to challenge myself with unconventional goals and pursue a life less ordinary.

TEDx Canmore

I had the wonderful opportunity to give a TEDx talk in Canmore in January, 2016. I was so honored to be chosen to speak at this event. I spoke about my humble beginnings as a refugee Boat Person from Vietnam and shared stories about running at the ends of the world. Watch the video to hear the hilarious way I was able to fund all these races!

On November 11, I set three Canadian records:

– 1st Canadian woman to complete the Last Desert ultra in Antarctica

– 1st Canadian woman to complete the Four Deserts Series

– 1st Canadian woman to complete the Four Deserts Series as a Grand Slam (all in one year)

I became the 8th woman in history to accomplishment this Grand Slam feat.

4 hard-earned medals!

A few years ago, I completed a marathon in Antarctica (2011) and the North Pole (2013). And then I began to wonder what else I could attempt. The Four Deserts is a series of 7 day, 250 km self-supported races through four deserts (Jordan, China, Chile and Antarctica)
